Acupuncturist blending eastern and western medical perspectives.

Carl M Balingit, Licensed Acupuncturist

Before starting my practice in 2006, I was a nuclear plant engineer. While I have a traditional Chinese perspective on health, I keep an engineering and scientific mindset in my application of acupuncture and herbal medicine.

My initial goal was to work as an in-hospital acupuncturist. However, the profit-centered Western healthcare system motivated me to focus on a clinical sole proprietorship that allows for customized patient-centered care.

On a patient-centered mission, I practice general medicine rather than a specialty. Instead of a specific disease, I focus on individuals and whatever they may need to not only address their concerns but also enrich their health. That is, I look at a person’s “big picture” condition.

General practice allows diversity that affords a holistic perspective on specific diseases.

I commonly treat disorders related to pain and injury; digestion; sexuality; and emotions such as anxiety. I also address a broad range of symptoms (e.g. headaches, insomnia, fatigue) that can stand alone or accompany the previous disorders.

The critical analysis and troubleshooting required during my engineering tenure informs my medical practice. So you’ll benefit from a rational diagnosis.

In addition to acupuncture, I do cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, tui na, and shonishin. These may sound foreign, but they will feel like home.

My acupuncture practice is located in San Diego (Mission Hills), where serving you fulfills me as much as it enriches you. Thanks in advance.

In Good Health,
